To honor the late Adam Yauch aka MCA of the Beastie Boys, Shepard Fairey has created several tributes to the hip-hop pioneer. Appearing in a number of locations across Los Angeles, the billboards make use of a Glen E. Friedman photo alongside art clearly inspired by the Beasties’ 1986 debut Licensed to Ill. Fairey’s MCA pieces can be seen at Sunset and Las Palmas and on Fairfax Avenue in LA.

First narrative film about OBEY -
Filmmaker Julian Marshall seeks to tell the narrative story of Shepard Fairey’s OBEY imprint much in the same way David Fincher captured the Facebook saga in The Social Network. Like many other young directors, Marshall has taken to Kickstarter where he hopes to raise $30,000 USD to complete a feature length film shot while in school at the Rhode Island School of Design. The official synopsis of OBEY THE GIANT tells the story of “a young skate punk challenging a big-city mayor and the powers-that-be at art school. Frustrated by his inability to gain respect within the confines of art school Shepard sets out to gain notoriety and acclaim by targeting the most powerful man in Providence, former Mayor Buddy Cianci.” With the film shot over the course of eight days in Providence, Marshall is looking for the artistic communities help to finish his passion project.

Stussy 2012 Spring Rome Photoshoot -
-“Shot in Rome” is a Stussy lookbook shot by the capable hands of photographer Marco Mazocchi. Happily coinciding with Stussy Milan’s recent opening, these photos further represent the aesthetic marriage between the Californian surf turned-streetwear brand and the ancient civilizations of Rome. The collection exhibits a slightly muted sensibility to otherwise strong geometric prints and color for a more refined look.

This mentality and amalgam of cultural facets aligned to form a single harmonious Hawaiian culture that would eventually lead to the birth of a language called Pidgin English. Check out the latest News from OBEY! Curtis Kulig X Obey "Love Me" -
Curtis Kulig is the artist behind the ambiguous, mixed-message “Love Me” tags you may have before seen on the sides of buildings high above New York City streets, or in galleries featuring canvas prints of the same. The longtime friend of Shepard Fairey is collaborating with OBEY for the first time, on a line of limited-edition apparel for men and women in OBEY’s 2012 Spring/Summer catalog. The line remains faithful to the work of both artists, with OBEY’s signature aesthetic and Giant graphic getting finished with Kulig’s all-over Love Me tag
